Thor

Thor’s Fight with the Giants (1872) – Mårten Eskil Winge

Coming from the Germanic mythology dating back at least to the Roman occupation of regions of Germania — 1st century BC —, Thor is a hammer-wielding god associated with lightning, thunder, storms, sacred groves and trees, strength, the protection of mankind and also hallowing and fertility.

In 1962, created by penciller-plotter Jack Kirby, editor-plotter Stan Lee, and scripter Larry Lieber, the god becomes Thor Odinson, a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Chris Hemsworth portrays him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films like Thor (2011), The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), and many others. In the meanwhile, like many of his colleagues, he did not escape the numerous parodies and reinterpretations destined to the world of superheroes.
