But William Gibson, 17, from Brackley in Northamptonshire, felt so sad singing Happy Birthday to himself every time he washed his hands. He wanted people to have a wider choice than a jingle, so he created the Wash Your Lyrics not-for-profit site.

About 175,000 posters were generated on it in its first three days. The website allows users to enter the title of their chosen song and artist to automatically generate a poster matching the lyrics to the 13-step washing routine. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen has so far proved the most popular choice on the website.
