Cartoons of Life

Dalcio Machado started drawing very early, influenced by his semi-artist father. In fact, the father took care of the race horses of Fazenda Rio das Pedras, in the district of Barão Geraldo. In his free time, he made wooden sculptures and drew a little. “At first the line was rough. The horse had a ‘head’ and the body was tiny. But I kept insisting,” he said. “It took too long to make the famous cartoons. There was a lack of maturity and knowledge of the world.”
Today, after more than 30 years on trait and irony, experience and day-to-day life, Dalcio seems to have finally reached maturity. There are more than 118 national and international awards, more than 50 thousand original works, and cartoons that went viral and touched the heart of Brazil and the world — some were even translated into Farsi, Arabic and Russian.
