Glowing Ocean

The beauty of nature is expressed in every possible way. Even when the sunlight goes out, we always have ways to find it around us moving or dancing in the dark. One of these is Bioluminescence, or “cold light” — less than 20% of the light generates thermal radiation, or heat — produced by a chemical reaction within a living organism.

Most of these bioluminescent organisms are found in the ocean — marine species include fish, bacteria, and jellies. Self-taught ocean wildlife and ocean art photographer Jordan Robins took a wonderful spectacle from the place where he lives: algae lighting up the shoreline in Jervis Bay, Australia, a bright electric blue.
