Dilakian World
Hovik and Gagik are the Dilakian Brothers, a mixed media artistic duo dealing with many fields, including fine art, illustration, animation, photography, fashion, set and interior design, book publishing and more. They’re perhaps best known for writing, illustrating and directing the Armenian animated film Gtnvatz Eraz — Found Dream — in 1976.
Born in Armenia and bred in New York, the Dilakian Brothers are responsible for series like ARTsakh, through which the beloved couple of “Papik” and “Tatik” — grandfather and grandmother respectively, from the Sargis Baghdasaryan’s We Are Our Mountains monument north of Stepanakert, the capital city of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh — brought to life as a vibrant symbol of the plight, resilience, pride and rich heritage of Armenians. Another series is Behind the Brush, a collection of works offering humorous and imaginative takes on the lives of famous artists behind closed doors.
