The Last Queen

There are times when critical or purely political thinking may well leave room for a more sentimental, romantic, fairytale momentum. Kingdoms have been populated by kings, queens, princes and princesses since childhood. And every child was fine with that. You got attached to the stories, got used to the characters and accepted them for what they were. Even the most wicked of queens has found a small place in your heart when her kingdom is suddenly gone. And you realized that time goes by. And that, without those characters, everything seemed to lose some meaning. You may have greeted the last queen.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary has been “the queen” of many generations. Born in 1926, she was Queen of the United Kingdom from 6 February 1952 until her death on 8 September 2022. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the second-longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country. Today, beyond good and evil, many people around the world are celebrating her life for the last time.
