Future Is Not Longer the Same

It’s the title of one of the first series by Anna Bányász, a nature focuser born and lived in Gyergyóújfalu, countryside of Romania. Since her family has a farm, she always found a subject that she could photograph. The cows are now used to it, and if their normal daily routine is undisturbed, they are extremely calm and don’t mind she walking around them and clicking her camera.

“When I’m home, I take my share of work,” she told Kultura.hu, “but I don’t get up at five in the morning to milk. Anyway, it’s all a matter of determination: those who are inclined towards this lifestyle will sooner or later take it up, but there are very few such among young people. They’re not even there”.

Anna started to explore the infinite possibilities of photography, together with her mother and brother, when she was sixth or seventh grade, then she majored in photography at MOME,
Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Her parents never forced her in the direction of a safer, more “rewarding” profession, they also recommended high school art training.

By studying, she learned the attitude that it is not enough to keep clicking and hoping that good pictures will be produced: “A visually well-composed, beautiful photo is not always enough,” she said. “Rather, it is necessary to think in terms of concepts that may have social implications or interesting lessons for others.”
